Every year the 5th grade a Ocotillo Ridge Elementary gets to go do San Diego. They get to be revolutionary war sailors on the "Californian" (replica war ship). They also get to go out on a boat in the bay and see all different types of wildlife. Kinda fun to get to do these extra activities with kids in her class.
This was Mandy's first trip away from home and she did great! They had to get her up in the middle of the night to do "night watch," she said it was easy and all they did was teach her how to tie knots. She LOVED the wildlife boat the next day, especially the seals. They saw seals, dolphins, crab, turtles, and lobsters. So glad she had a great time!
Everyone here at home missed her very much, even though it was only one night. Jason was crying when he woke up the morning she left because the bus had to leave before his usual wake up time. Ashley didn't want to sleep alone in her room, and they all wanted to stay up to greet her the night she got home. It made us feel good as parents that the kids actually love each other because most of the time we wonder. So I'll take this little moment into my heart and remember that they really do love each other, because I will need that reminder!

Oh how fun! That looks like it was a NEAT TRIP! I don't know how you did it Anna.... seriously!
Oh and by the way I totally agree with you! The last time we were at your parents I was looking at Mitch and seeing similarities in him and Steele. I am sure we will see many more similarities to all of your kids as Steele grows and IF I decide to have others hahaha! ;) Jake has already mentioned time frames on when to have our second and I was NOT ready to have that conversation this soon after. :) I hear time takes care of that itself.
It's hard to let our oldest be more independent don't you think! What a fun trip! San Diego is one of my favorite places! By the way thanks so much for all your sweet comments always on Facebook and blogging. You always make me feel good and it makes me wish we were neighbors again! I just love you!
Mandy did a great job taking pictures of her trip! I am glad she had a fun time!
Great pictures! I love when my kids miss eachother too. Sometimes it surprises me - as they act like they can't stand eachother sometimes and then they are asking when the missing kid is coming back.

What a great field trip. Man I wish we did cool things like that when I was in school. I'm glad Mandy had a fun time and did okay on her first alone trip. So sweet that the other kids missed her. You are a great mom Anna!!
You are so brave! The controlling mommy in me is shouting don't let her go! :) But, it looks like a great time, and I am glad Mandy loved it! We miss you guys!
